Walking with Oma

Of course living in Europe there are certain essentials for Kaia, her cute European hats and her beautiful pram. Her Oma (grandma in German) loves pushing her kinderwagon (stroller) through our little town. Kaia is so lucky to have another GREAT grandma right next door!

Kaia is 2 months old today!

Kaia is 8 weeks old today! She is the happiest baby, always smiling, laughing and she saw herself in the mirror for the first time yesterday and let out a giant squeal and then laughed at herself! She is so much fun and changing everyday.

Kaia - 6 weeks! I can't stop smiling!!!!

Kaia - 4 weeks!

4 weeks and Kaia is already trying to stand on her own. She is pushing up with her legs and loves to look around! The smiles also get cuter everyday!!

It was exactly what we all thought it would be.....lots of presents and many special memories!

Kaia met Mema and Papi a few minutes after she was born and she met her Mormor and Aunt Gabbie and Uncle Pepper on December 24,2006! There were many tears and excitement as she met her new family! We can't wait until the summer when Kaia gets to meet her aunt Kristi and cousin Macey!

Kaia Jane Thiele

Kaia was born on December 6, 2006 at 6:15pm
She was 8 lbs. 7 oz. and was 21 inches long
Lesli was in labor for 26 hours before the doctors decided Kaia was stuck and was not even close to making it out on her own so after a failed forceps delivery a c-section was performed and finally she was here!
Mema and Papi (Lesli's parents) arrived in Frankfurt at 11am that morning and since Lesli had been in labor since 3pm the day before they just knew they were going to miss the birth but little Miss Kaia had other plans! Her grandparents made it just in time and got to see the surgery in which she made her grand entrance! In the words of her father, " Already high maintenance like her mother"!

Lots of catching up to do!

Okay so when I started this blog in 2005 it was with good intentions to "keep it updated" as much as possible. It is now 2007 so I thought maybe I should get things together and do this right! I guess having a kid will inspire you to do such things! This is mainly for the grandparents to keep up with little Kaia but of course friends and family are welcome to join in on the fun and see what is happening in our lives as well.

So a quick recap....
January 4, 2006 - June 10, 2006 - Fighter Weapons School for Kristian; Las Vegas, NV
A tough (for Lesli) and exhilarating (for Kristian) 6 months which resulted in a coveted "patch" and a baby to be born in December.....what happens in Vegas DOESN'T ALWAYS stay in Vegas!

June 13, 2006 - Drive back to Texas to spend some time with the family.

June 19, 2006 - Car Accident involving K,L, mom, dad and little Macey. All okay except mom who broke her pelvis in three places and spent three weeks in Rehab center. Lesli stays in San Antonio to help mom. Mom showed amazing strength and courage and is totally healed!

July 1, 2006 - Kristian arrives in Germany and finds an amazing home!

July 13, 2006 - Lesli arrives in Germany and starts "moving in"!!

July - Dec. - quite the blur of activity. Many TDYs for Kristian (Romania, Turkey, Belgium, etc.) and Lesli just getting more pregnant, with an exciting trip to Norway in August!

November 28, 2006 - Rascal Thiele (our beloved cat) is diagnosed with intestinal cancer and has to be put down.

November 30,2006 - 4 years of marriage and a labor false alarm....which we discovered after 6 hours in the hospital in the middle of the night....oops!


December 6, 2006 6:15pm - Kaia Jane Thiele arrives via C-section (after 26 hours of labor prior to that!). 8 lbs. 7 oz. 21 inches long

Okay so that should get you up to speed!!!!
I am going to do my best with the updates so you will not have to read a recap of the last two years the next time we send this out!
