Christmas Shopping

Kaia and Mommy before Christmas Shopping (it's finally cold here so we finally get to wear our cold stuff)

Kaia AFTER Christmas Shopping

Decorating the Tree

Kaia was so excited to help decorate the Christmas tree. She would sit on her knees and bounce up and down and clap and squeal as she sat in front of the lit tree. She likes to touch the tree and so far hasn't caused too much damage to it :)
My grandmother (who passed away a while ago) made these stuffed ornaments years ago. When I was a baby I pulled these same ornaments off the bottom of the tree and Kaia is doing a good job of following in my footsteps.

Kaia's first Thanksgiving

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving (besides missing Kristian) at Cody and Sandra's house. Kaia had a ball playing with Clayton and they enjoyed their turkey dinner together (well not really...Kaia ate sweet potatoes and green beans and that's about it).

Kaia started clapping after I put her tray on her seat...I guess she was excited to have her first Thanksgiving dinner!!

Flower Child

She does something new and funny everyday

Some silly things Kaia is doing:
- She thinks it is so funny to tickle my feet. She crawls over and tickles them and waits for me to laugh and then she laughs so hard and crawls away. A second later she is coming back to do it again and laughing the whole time. Of course this goes on about 100 times before she gets tired of it.
- She loves doing somersaults in the living room but the best thing is that once I help her do one, she gets on her hands and feet (like downward facing dog position) and puts her head down and bounces on her legs until I come over and help her do another one. We go through this over and over and she laughs and laughs. She will also copy me doing a barrell roll on the floor. If I get down and start rolling, she lays down and rolls right behind me. She thinks it is so funny that we are both rolling at the same time.
- At any time, if I just sign "book" to her, she crawls to me as fast as she can and holds her arms out for me to pick her up. If I don't have a book ready to read to her, it is a screamfest!!

Kaia loves books so much, she even reads in the bath tub

Kaia loves her bath books. I have to take them away from her just to get her to actually play in the tub.

She is the cutest thing....ever!!!!

Mom and Kaia

In the evenings, Kaia and I play this little game. I look at her a certain way really fast then lightly blow in her face and she laughs hysterically. She is so cute and silly!!

Fall means several things...

pumpkins, bubbles, and Tennessee football!!! GO VOLS!

Kaia's newest favorite

Aunt Kristi got this little monkey for Kaia. He giggles when you squeeze his foot and she really loves him. She kisses him and hugs him and lays her head on him. It is too sweet!

Boy, does this kid love books...a trait she inherited from her Grandpa!

Kaia is so obsessed with books, it is crazy. I have never seen a baby so into books before. She will sit in my lap for hours if I have books to read to her. She will drop any toy she has if she sees me with a book in my hand. She comes crawling across the room, laughing and smiling, and holds her arms out to me when I show her a book. She fusses when I stop reading, and tell her "all done" (even after I have read 7 books to her twice). She likes to turn the pages herself and touch the textured pages. She will sit in the floor by herself with a book for 30 minutes and point to things and chatter away as if she is reading (it is the most adorable thing she does). She makes certain sounds when she sees certain animals or people. It is like she goes into her own little world. We read to her three times a day for at least 30 minutes each time. We are hoping she continues this trend and reads all the time like her grandfather. She is really close to signing "book" as well...we can't wait!

11 Months Old Today!

I can hardly believe how fast the time has flown by...one more month and she will be a year old! She is still so active and into everything...cabinets, drawers, pulling anything off of tables and chairs, etc. She will not sit still and getting her to pose for pictures is almost impossible (I miss those times!!). She is getting really daring with walking and her balance is improving so it shouldn't be long. She likes her baby doll, her play remote control (and real ones), and reading books is her favorite thing of all!
