DO NOT CHECK THE COMMENT ON THE EASTER POST

Please do not click on the comment link in the Easter 2008 post below. I think it is some sort of spam or virus because my computer freaked out when I clicked on it!!

Easter 2008

Well our plans for Easter this year were to spend it in the Burgundy region of France but Kristian woke up Friday morning with a horrible flu. So, after cancelling the trip, Kaia and I had to gear up for Easter at home. While Kristian slept on the couch, we colored easter eggs. She ended up with blue lips (from trying to eat the eggs) and she ate a couple stickers but other than that, we had a great time...don't worry grandma's the egg dye was non-toxic :)
The weather here was so awful Friday and Saturday (rain and snow) that it is a good thing we weren't in France. We would have been stuck in a hotel room.

Easter Morning

Kaia woke up Easter morning and quickly realized the Easter bunny came to Ensch. Thanks to her wonderful grandparents, she really enjoyed all of her easter goodies.

Finally, some beautiful Easter weather
We had gorgeous sunny weather on Sunday and were able to spend a lot of time outside and get some pretty easter pics. It is snowing again today so we feel really lucky that it cleared it for the day.

Egg Hunt
So I thought at 15 months Kaia wouldn't really know what to do with the easter egg hunt. When we walked outside and she spotted the first egg, she ran towards it, picked it up and put it in her basket. She was a pro and had so much fun!!!!
She looked so precious in her Easter dress and coat and hat (thank you Mormor)!!!

Mommy and Kaia

Since K was feeling under the weather, we weren't able to take family pics so we got some of Kaia and I. The two of us had a ball.

Kaia was a bit of a daddy's girl on Easter since she wasn't able to really love on him the past couple of days since he was sick. I did happen to catch them a few times sharing some kisses!!

Some old pics

Here's some old pics of Kaia in her rain coat (she has gotten a lot of use out of it lately) and one of my favorite little outfits (sorry you can only see her from the back - that is pretty much the only pics of her I can get these days).

Rainy Days

It's been so cold and rainy lately that Kaia and I are going crazy in the house trying to come up with things to do. We play hide-n-seek, follow the leader, chase me around the island, and anything else we can think of. Here are some fun pics of my little cutie bear!!!

15 Months Old

I'm a little late on this one...Kaia turned 15 months old on March 6th. She just looks so cute in all her winter gear and I know for the next 3 years she won't be wearing any, so I take as many pics as possible.

Stick it out!!

Kaia loves to stick out her tongue (funny how she is doing a lot more silly things now that her daddy is home). She also likes to try to grab your tongue if you stick it out. Once she begins this silly game, she doesn't like to stop. She keeps her tongue out and demands for you to have yours out too.

Some fun new things

Kaia is doing so much that I feel like if I don't blog it or write it down somewhere I am going to forget and regret not remembering one day. So...here it goes.

1. We are done with the bottle. The daytime one was no problem. She has taken to drinking milk from her sippy cup just fine. The bedtime bottle is a little different. If she drinks milk with her dinner, she is fine and doesn't think about it. If she doesn't, then I can tell she is missing it a little later on. We are working on it and I am already grateful that it hasn't been to difficult for her (just for me...I hate that all the baby things are ending :( ). Let's hope when the time comes to take binky away, it goes this smoothly....eeeh!

2. Kaia has been doing so well with her manners. She signs "thank you" everytime I hand her something or fetch one of her toys from under the chair. She also signs "please" when she asks for her cup. She hugs and kisses after she gets scolded for something which I think is her way of saying she is sorry...or her way of buttering me up so I can't be too mad at her :) She has gotten so good at signing "all done" so I will move her food away when she is done, instead of throwing it on the floor. I am liking this MUCH better. Eating time is not so messy anymore and Sadie isn't so fat anymore either!!!

3. Kaia has learned how to say "cheers" when she holds her cup. It doesn't sound like cheers, but she holds her cup up in the air and then shouts something...I know she is trying to say it. If I say it, she looks for her cup, then holds it high in the air....too cute!

4. We have been working with color and texture cards and matching them with things that are the same color or texture. She is really into all the texture ones. Her favorite...she holds up the "furry" card and then pets Sadie with the other hand. If she grabs the card and can't find Sadie...she walks around the house with the card in her hand signing "puppy dog" until she sees her...it is amazing!

5. Kaia definitely knows her "Mama" and "Dada" and she likes to let everyone know it. If we are out when she sees someone else, she points to me or Kristian and says "Mama" or "Dada" just to let that person know who she belongs to. At home, she points to our wedding picture (or any picture we are in) and announces, "Mama" and "Dada". I love it!!!

Those are just some fun things we have been doing. Animals are still her favorite thing. We are looking forward to the weather getting a little warmer so we can visit the zoo here.

"CHEERS"!!!!

Kaia misses her Grandparents

EVERYDAY (a few times a day) Kaia has to kiss her grandparents. She points to their pictures and blows them kisses. This is her way of asking for the frame. So I get them down and hand them to her. She points to Mormor and Grandpa and Mema and Papi. She gives them all kisses and has little conversations with them. It is so sweet. She also tries to walk around the house carrying the frames which mommy isn't a huge fan of :)

Sharing a popsicle with daddy

Here are some cutie pie pics of Kaia and Daddy sharing his sugar-free popsicle (that was the agreement with mommy to let her share - no sugar before bedtime!!)

Fun in the snow

Of course we had to get outside and see Kaia in the snow. There wasn't very much and it was very wet, heavy snow. She held (and ate) a snow ball (actually, it was an ice ball), made a snow man with Opa (which she gave lots of kisses), and played ice ball with Sadie. She had a great time and even though her snow suit and face were soaking wet after 30 minutes of being outside, she still was not ready to come in!

Alles Weiss (All is White!)

It snowed in Ensch yesterday!!!! It RARELY snows here, and if it does, it hardly ever sticks, so we were excited to see our wine country all white with snow!
It mostly stuck up in the higher areas and not down by the river as you can see but it was pretty.

Laughing like Mom and Dad

When Kaia is done eating we play several games with her while she is in her high chair. She loves to imitate our laughs...especially Kristian's VERY loud, boisterous one. Here she is imitaing us and being a big ole HAM!!!!!

What does a lizard say?

Everyday Kaia picks up a new animal sound or movement. She now knows elephant, crab, aligator, octopus, bumble bee, and my favorite...lizard. When we ask her, "what does a lizard say?", she sticks out her tongue. She has gotton so good at it, she even taught Sadie how to do it!! :)

Oma and Opa lovin' on Kaia

Outdoors

It has been raining and raining here and finally the sun broken through today for a few hours. It is suppose to snow tomorrow so we thought we would get Kaia outside for a bit. After 20 minutes, it was too cold for her so we had to go inside. You can see how she reacted to that below. :)

Fun bathtime pics

Kaia really enjoys bathtime (besides being dried off). She loves all her bath toys and reading her bath books. She kisses all the different animal toys and makes "their noise". Her and daddy have a good time lathering up with the lotion and she laughs at all his silly faces and noises. She is also picking up some not so great things from him (see bottom pic). Still, they are adorable together!!!!

The Chase

Kaia LOVES to be chased! She runs away so fast laughing and screaming at the top of her lungs. As soon as you catch her and put her back down she looks at you, yells, and demands to be chased some more...it is too cute!

"Look at my soccer ball"

"I'm coming to get you Kaia"

RUN

"Here comes Daddy"

GO!!

Dad caught her!
