40 weeks old today

Kaia is so so busy. Just in the past week she has done so much. She is crawling all over the place and so fast. She is standing up on everything and walking in between the sofa and the ottoman (so she can hang on as she goes). She has starting talking so much more. She likes to say Mmmmmmm, after each bite of food (that she likes, like mac-n-cheese). She also likes to constantly say Ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba. She is waving bye-bye at times and we are working on saying bye-bye.
She is still signing and learning more and more everyday.

There is no more "sitting around"

Now that Kaia can stand, that's all she wants to do. The nights of getting Kaia to bed quickly and without a struggle are OVER!!!! She wants to stand in her bed and in the pack-n-play and in the living room and in the kitchen. Crawling is not that exciting anymore...why crawl when you can try to walk and crash 100 times???

Kaia's first Spaghetti Eis

Bernkastle is famous for there spaghetti ice cream (it was TOTALLY AMAZING!!!). On Sunday night after dinner, we went for a taste and Kaia loved it (of course, look at who her parents are).

Kaia loves being out in the yard on the blanket with all her toys. She crawls all over and plays with her Oma.

Our house is now a MAD HOUSE

Kaia is crawling ALL OVER the place and she gets faster everyday! She is also pulling up on everything which is really cute but once she's up, she's not really sure how to get down which makes for not-so-cute bumps and bruises everywhere!
She will go after the phone or the remote control so quick you can barely catch her. The next few months should be quite interesting!!!!

At 8 Months Kaia...
-is signing the following, COME COME, ALL DONE, BYE BYE, POOP, MILK
- is working on signing, Mommy, Daddy, eat, drink, bath, sadie
- is crawling and trying to pull up on everything
- eats baby food three times a day, loves bananas, cheerios (which she can manage to grab and get in her mouth all by herself), tomatoes, mashed potatoes and little bites of vanilla ice cream
- has lots of light blond hair that is hard to see in all the pics of her (she gets more and more everyday)
- brings her forehead to yours when you say "Keekzien" (which is a German word that no one knows a translation for but its really cute)
- spits when she doesn't like something
- still has 2 teeth
- still LOVES to watch Baby Einstein (Baby McDonald is her fav)
- likes to play on Opa's tractor
- gets so excited when she sees her Oma
- LOVES bathtime and splashes us until we are soaking wet
- jumps around like a crazy woman in her Jumperoo
- still naps twice a day (~4 hours)
- sleeps 12-13 hours each night
- really needs Mommy when she is hurt or really tired
- likes to pick up two objects and bang them together (she pretty much copies what Mommy does)
- likes to sit in the grocery cart but she has to touch everything that I put in the basket
- still smiles and laughs all the time

Daddy's Home

On Thursday night, Kristian came home and we were both so happy to see him. As he got out of the jet, with all his gear on, Kaia went right to him and pressed her little forehead to his and nuzzled her face into his. She squeezed so tight and gently touched his face. She definitely remembered her daddy and they have been having a ball together ever since he has arrived back home. We are looking forward to a beautiful, long, relaxing weekend together.

On the go...

Kaia is busy, busy, busy. She loves to play on the floor and crawl around after her toys. She loves the plastic blocks that her Oma got her and these different colored balls that rattle. She likes to bang two of them together and hear the sound it makes. She likes to try and follow Sadie around and touch her feet and tail. She is trying to pull up on the ottoman and the sofa and we know it won't be long before that happens. She gets better at the crawling thing everyday and as soon as she gets it down, she is going to take off. Right now, she takes about 5 or 6 "crawl steps" and then turns and sits. As soon as she sees something she wants, she's off again! It is so fun to watch and see her grow and change.
