Enjoying Los Angeles

Grandpa Tango turns "70"

Mr. Thiele turned 70 on Wednesday! We celebrated with a delicious steak dinner and ice cream cake (dinner courtesy of Mrs. Thiele)! We were so happy to be here to celebrate his special day!

Fun at the pool

Kaia, Sadie, and I escaped the Las Vegas heat and headed to Los Angeles to visit the Thieles! We have had so much fun playing at the park and in the pool. Kaia was a little hesitant at first but as you can see she now LOVES the "wa-wa"! When we ask her if she wants to go swimming she runs to the front door and tries to get it open. Once there, she gets right in and tries to wiggle out of my arms. She has no fear which is quite scarry! She loves her floaty her Mormor got her, especially the octopus which she chews on!

Little Pastry Chef

Our first playgroup with the Lady Tomahawks was so fun! We went to a place called the "Little Pastry Chefs". There the kids made sugar cookies and decorated cupcakes. It was so nice to see Cara and Alexa and meet up with Beverly and her two boys again! We also enjoyed meeting new friends! We are looking forward to this assignment and getting to know everyone!

Arriving in Vegas

We made it finally! We were laughing the other night at all the "moving" we have done just in this trip...here is a run down: 4 nights at the Mullers, 1 night in TLF at Spang, 1 night in Frankfurt, 1 night in TLF at Nellis, 1 night in the Thiele's suite at Nellis, 5 nights back in TLF at Nellis, 2 nights in a "vacation rental home" (not so much!), 6 nights in Los Angeles (had to escape Vegas for a while, K is still there working)! What's next?? A week at a friend's house who so nicely volunteered their house so we wouldn't have to be on base, a week in the JW Marriot with our family who are coming to visit, another week in disgusting TLF at Nellis and then HOPEFULLY our house will be ready! Am I about done with all this??? YES!

Here are some pics of some of the things we were able to squeeze in between finding a house and surviving the heat!

Last Full Day in Ensch

Our last day in Ensch was very sad. The weather was beautiful but we all knew come the next day it was time to leave. The Mullers were so gracious and let us stay with them the last week we were there. It was so nice to be able to spend so much time with them before we had to go. Mr. Muller took Kaia to the park to swing everyday while Kristian and I cleaned and finished the house. Mrs. Muller cooked for us and took care of Kaia also. We miss them dearly and hope we see them again very soon!!!

We Made It!

After a crazy delay at the airport (Luftansia decided to go on strike the day we left), we made it safely to HOT Las Vegas. We were greeted at the airport by the Thieles and it was so great to see them!!

We have found a great house, although we can't move in until the middle of August. Soooo, we are in the disgusting TLF on base. I am trying my best to stay positive despite the very dirty floors and tiny, tiny space the 4 of us are trying to live in. We have AC and at this point that is the most important thing. It was 115 degrees yesterday...did I mention it was really hot here?

It wouldn't be a truly stressful moving experience without a ton of drama so Sadie made sure to help "pile it on". She decided to go through my suitcase and find her glucosamine pills and eat 15 of them. So a few days after we got here, she spent the night in the animal hospital with a stomach tube in...like I'm not stressed already! She is fine now :)

Kristian is enjoying catching up with friends that he works with before he really gets busy. I have also enjoyed hooking up with girlfriends from the past and Kaia has already made so many new friends. The funniest thing about our new location...everytime we get in the car, Kaia looks out the window and shouts DIRT. We think she thinks the mountains are giant dirt piles. It is hilarious as she says it over and over until we confirm that she is correct, "Yes, there is a lot of dirt here"!

We have been down to the strip already, and yes, I played a dollar on a slot with Mrs. Thiele (we both lost of course!). We took Kaia to the MGM to see the Lions which she loved and she also couldn't get enough of all the animals at the Rain Forest Cafe.

Today we went to our first playgroup where Kaia got to be a "little pastry chef" (also the name of the place). She enjoyed cutting and decorating sugar cookies and decorating her cupcake which she then destroyed (why eat it when you can crumble it into tiny pieces??). Here are a couple pics (I have so many more but our internet here is soooo slow it would take me two weeks to upload them all...stay tuned!)
