I am a few days late on this but here goes.
Sorry for all the writing but this is how I journal. I know one day I will get around to scrapbooking all of this but until I do, I know I have it on my blog. :)
At 17 months:
She is OBSESSED with airplanes (go figure). She gets so excited when she hears (and especially when she sees) one. She starts signing "airplane", making her sound effects, and pointing up saying and signing "dada". We watched 4 take off on base the other day and not once did the extremely loud noise bother her. She laughed and clapped her hands. She kept signing "airplane" the whole way home and looking out the window for them. Everyday when she hears them over the house, she runs to the back door and looks up to see if she can see them...it is too much.
She is really into music (even more than before). She loves doing the hand motions to "wheels on the bus", "thumbkin", and her fav..."If you're happy and you know it". She also likes filling in the "choo choo" part when daddy sings "Little Red Caboose" (our house is NEVER quiet!!).
She thinks burping is HILARIOUS and in this house, she gets a lot of opportunities to laugh about it. When you ask her "what does daddy say"?, she makes a burping sound and laughs so hard. When K or I burp she claps and laughs! It is so funny!!
She is signing more and more...I can't even keep up. The most helpful one is "help". She will call out "Mama" and then sign "help" so I can help her off a step, or get something out from under something. It is so much nicer than her getting upset and yelling. Some of her newest signs are: chair, table, friend, play, bowl, oma, opa, and blanket. My ultimate favorite sign now is "I love you"...she is so sweet doing it and usually follows it up with a hug or kiss.
She is saying so many new things also...new words...poop, bowl, clock, pa (for opa) and ooooooomama (for oma).
Luckily, we haven't had to deal with any climbing...until now. She pushes her chair over in the living room and uses it to climb up on the ottoman and she is working on how to get up on the sofa. It scares me to death because she doesn't seem to have any fear...like I need another one of those in the house :)
She loves being outside regardless of the weather. She picks up every rock, flower, stick or stone she sees. She runs as fast as she can and she is so tough. She currently has 2 scraped up knees and a scraped up elbow and she didn't shed a single tear on that crash. She falls and gets up and keeps on truckin'!
She still LOVES the world of books. We read so many during the day together and she constantly is looking at books whenever we are in the house. When I ask her if she is ready to take a bath, she signs, "bath", "brush teeth", "book", "bed", and "sleep" in that order. It is amazing!
