Little Ham

Her new favorite food is....

PICKLES! I think it is due to the fact that I ate so many while I was pregnant with her but SHE LOVES THEM!!! The best part, K and I get such a huge laugh everytime she eats them.

Some fun pics

So my 200+ pics I took in the Burgundy region of France are lost somewhere in cyberspace and I, of course, am absolutely sick over it.
So while I am still frantically trying to search for the lost pictures, here are some new ones taken in the past few days!

Kaia and her daddy...

The days Kristian gets home from work and Kaia is still awake, they have a special routine. After the hug and kiss, she rips all his patches off of his flight suit. Then they do their rendition of the Dancing with the Stars dance. As you can see Kaia loves every second of it! They are just too cute!

This week she discovered his hat in his leg pocket. She likes to take it out and put it on and run around the room.

Pasta Mania

I fixed Pepperoni Pasta for dinner the other night and although Kaia loves pasta, she wasn't quite sure what to do with the angel hair. She decided that it was way more fun to sling it around and have it land on her head than it was to eat it. She also loves American Idol. She dances around the room and claps her hands when the audience claps. She even got to see her grandpa on the show this past week!

Kaia goes bananas for bananas!!

Fun Times

AIRPLANE!!

These pics say it all....AIRPLANE! The sky over our house is FILLED with airplanes. On a sunny day, not only are all the planes from Frankfurt, Spangdahlem, Paris, and Ramstein flying by, but all the small planes, gliders, helicopters, hot air balloons, etc. fill the sky. Kaia can't get enough. I think she says and signs "airplane" 100 times a day. When daddy is home, they spend the day investigating everything that flies by.

A Perfect Saturday!

We started the day with an early morning bike ride along the Mosel...no one was out and about yet so everything was so still. We came home and let Kaia get out the swimming pool. As you can see below, she had a great time. Kristian and I did so well making my grandmother's homemade chocolate ice cream recipe and it was so delicious!!! We have been sitting in the sun, eating ice cream, laughing at our crazy little girl, and loving life! Even better...Kaia is spending the night with her Oma and Opa tonight and K and I are going to a winery with a bunch of friends :) :)

Summer Fun

Lunch Time

Kaia is so silly when she is eating. She is such a good eater. She LOVES apples and gets one everyday from Oma. She takes the whole apple and just bites right into it with all her teeth! She was laughing in these pics at Daddy's burp noises!

Kaia - 17 Months

I am a few days late on this but here goes.

Sorry for all the writing but this is how I journal. I know one day I will get around to scrapbooking all of this but until I do, I know I have it on my blog. :)

At 17 months:

She is OBSESSED with airplanes (go figure). She gets so excited when she hears (and especially when she sees) one. She starts signing "airplane", making her sound effects, and pointing up saying and signing "dada". We watched 4 take off on base the other day and not once did the extremely loud noise bother her. She laughed and clapped her hands. She kept signing "airplane" the whole way home and looking out the window for them. Everyday when she hears them over the house, she runs to the back door and looks up to see if she can see them...it is too much.

She is really into music (even more than before). She loves doing the hand motions to "wheels on the bus", "thumbkin", and her fav..."If you're happy and you know it". She also likes filling in the "choo choo" part when daddy sings "Little Red Caboose" (our house is NEVER quiet!!).

She thinks burping is HILARIOUS and in this house, she gets a lot of opportunities to laugh about it. When you ask her "what does daddy say"?, she makes a burping sound and laughs so hard. When K or I burp she claps and laughs! It is so funny!!

She is signing more and more...I can't even keep up. The most helpful one is "help". She will call out "Mama" and then sign "help" so I can help her off a step, or get something out from under something. It is so much nicer than her getting upset and yelling. Some of her newest signs are: chair, table, friend, play, bowl, oma, opa, and blanket. My ultimate favorite sign now is "I love you"...she is so sweet doing it and usually follows it up with a hug or kiss.

She is saying so many new things also...new words...poop, bowl, clock, pa (for opa) and ooooooomama (for oma).

Luckily, we haven't had to deal with any climbing...until now. She pushes her chair over in the living room and uses it to climb up on the ottoman and she is working on how to get up on the sofa. It scares me to death because she doesn't seem to have any fear...like I need another one of those in the house :)

She loves being outside regardless of the weather. She picks up every rock, flower, stick or stone she sees. She runs as fast as she can and she is so tough. She currently has 2 scraped up knees and a scraped up elbow and she didn't shed a single tear on that crash. She falls and gets up and keeps on truckin'!

She still LOVES the world of books. We read so many during the day together and she constantly is looking at books whenever we are in the house. When I ask her if she is ready to take a bath, she signs, "bath", "brush teeth", "book", "bed", and "sleep" in that order. It is amazing!

Special Moments

We spent all day Sunday outside. The weather was gorgeous and we enjoyed the day with our neighbors/landlords/friends/family...The Mullers. They are so very special to us and they will always be a huge part of our lives. We have been so blessed to have met them and Kaia will always have memories of her "Oma and Opa". They have helped us in so many ways and are always so thoughtful. We will miss them dearly.

Kaia can FINALLY wear adorable summer dresses and run around bare foot and I LOVE IT! She looks like my little girlie princess but still acts like my little boy :) (we had to keep her away from the sand box while she was wearing it which did not make her too happy). Thanks Mom for the dress. Kaia loved it too. She was doing "spins" in it and then would sign "more" and clap!!!

There are no words....

I know I totally see with "Mommy Eyes" but is she seriously this cute??? I LOVE IT!

**This outfit is, of course, from Mormor's favorite store...thank you Mormor!

Fun in the Sun

Our Little Tom-boy

Well last week she didn't want her clothes to be dirty...after one afternoon with daddy, now look what she LOVES to do!!

Not only does she like to throw the sand and take handfulls and let it fall on her head, once it falls in her hair, she rubs it all in her hair and laughs and laughs....oh my goodness!
